4th graders learn all about the State of Illinois during PTO's
annual State Fair in May. With the help of parent volunteers, 5th graders experience
math concepts such as fractions during Fraction Café. Social Dance Lessons allow 6th graders to learn
basics of Fox Trot, Cha Cha, Electric Slide and more. |
Every year, PTO helps organize or sponsor a wide range of programs geared toward the current curriculum and enriching the students school experiences:
Discovering the Depths (Humpback whales), Wildlife Discovery Center, "Pioneer Living Journey Back in Time", The Mousetrap Machine, National Geographic Giant Map (South America), Jesse White Tumbling, Lewis & Clark, The Science Alliance, Voice of Chicago/Poetry Slam, Amazing Science of Magic & Illusion, Mama Edie Storytelling, Spain's Dancing Rhythms, Learn to Juggle. “VOLUNTEERING IS THE ULTIMATE EXERCISE IN DEMORACY. YOU VOTE IN ELECTIONS ONCE A YEAR, BUT WHEN YOU VOLUNTEER, YOU VOTE EVERY DAY ABOUT THE KIND OF COMMUNITY YOU WANT TO LIVE IN.”

Link to Learning & Extra for Extracurricular (E4E)
Grants: $4,100 was awarded to encourage and support creative and innovative learning methods to enhance District 103 curriculum. This year, the program afforded Dash & Dot Robotics Kits for Sprague, Snap Circuit Kits and Ozobots for Half Day, and Wind Energy Module Kits for DW to allow the students to explore computer science skills and various forms of environmentally friendly energy sources. School Facilities Improvements Half Day Playground Modifications From the raised funds, PTO contributed $10,000 toward playground modifications at Half Day, which was completed in October 2015. Sprague Library Furniture PTO contributed $10,000 toward new furniture for the Sprague School Library, which was completed in August 2016. DW Fitness Center Equipment $34,000 was awarded toward new fitness center equipment for Daniel Wright JHS. DW Library Furniture From the raised funds, PTO is contributing $30,000 toward new furniture for the Daniel Wright JHS Library, which will be completed during the 2016/17 school year.
