We introduce you to Julie Freeman! The quote "Though she be little, she is fierce", so accurately describes this passionately principled volunteer. When she chooses where she will devote her time, she does so wisely, as she focuses on whatever she's committed to with her heart, mind and soul. We are thrilled to say she's coming back for another round as one of our Parent Education co-chairs next year!

***ABOUT JULIE***

Her children:
I have 2 daughters in the district, one in 3rd grade and one in 6th.

Her position on the PTO Board:
Co-chair of Parent Education

Year started as a PTO Board member:
2013-2014

Employment status:
I own a promotion products/Marketing company Jelli Goods, with my husband. I work part time, managing the finances for the company and I spend one day a week working in our retail store.

How do you fit in PTO projects into your routine?
My team meets once a month, usually over lunch (you gotta eat, right?) to discuss events we are working on for the district. I am able to do much of the planning and prep work at home on my own time.

What do you enjoy about it?
I enjoy being a part of events and projects that strengthen our parent community and deepen our relationship as parents with the school. I also like the affiliation with the PTO, hearing from the administrators, knowing about different things going on in the district as well as where all the fundraising dollars go.

Meet Chris Acampora - a tireless parent volunteer who will always find the extra time to help, whether it is something planned or last minute. As a full time working mom, she still supports PTO out wherever help is needed and we appreciate each year that we get to spend with her!

**ALL ABOUT CHRIS**

Her children:
Weston - sophomore,
Carly - 6th grade,
Aubrey - 1st grade

Her position on the PTO Board:
Chair of 6th Gr Spring Fling,
Chair of 4th grade State Fair,
Chair of DW Pizza Sales.

Employment status:
I own an online website membership company that teaches chiropractors how to integrate with medical professionals. I write monthly for the American Chiropractic Associations magazine ACA Today and I speak for state and national conferences.

How do you fit in PTO projects into your routine?
I pick projects that appeal to me personally (I tend to gravitate towards social studies) and I take on roles that allow for some work to be done as time allows and have longer planning cycles.

What do you enjoy about it?
I love working with my friends, I mostly love watching the end results and seeing the kids enjoy the events.

Meet another one of our awesome board members, Astha Bhattad. She's bravely and energetically jumped into PTO Board with both feet by helping create the Welcome Committee's D103 Family Information Fair, held at the Vernon Area Library last October. Our school community has benefitted greatly from her sharing her cultural perspective and her time, not just with the PTO, but also with our school staff. Read what she says about how she fits it all in. We are thrilled that she is coming back next year in the same position!

***ALL ABOUT ASTHA!***

Her name:
Mrs. Astha Maheshwari (Bhattad)

Her children's names and grades:
Eshaan Bhattad - 7th Grade
Eshaam Bhattad - 2nd Grade

Her position on the PTO Board:
Welcome Committee-D103 Family Information Fair Co-Chair

Year started:
I have been a member of the PTO since 2011, and Board member since 2013.

How do you fit in PTO projects into your routine?
Proactive planning, identifying areas of interest and strengths and signing up for activities accordingly.

I enjoy the ability to learn new things and work in multi-cultural environment. It helps me contribute to our school system and helps me appreciate the system.

Meet Linda Pinsel!
This is bittersweet meet, because if you haven't already met her in person, you might have missed your chance. We are sad to say her family is moving this summer after many years of contributing so positively to our community. Linda can always be counted on to lift your day with her warm smile and great sense of humor, and she has always been one of our best selling points. If she's involved, others want to be too! It's quite the understatement to say that the D103 community's good friend Linda will be sorely missed. We wish her the best of luck in her new adventures!

***LINDA SAYS***

Her kids:
Kate 6th grade
Jack 4th grade

PTO Positions:
PTO member since 2008 and Board since 2010
Fine Arts Day Chair
Spirit Wear Chair
Daniel Wright PTO School VP

What I enjoy the most about being part of the PTO:

I love working and volunteering in the schools and in my kids classrooms. I've been lucky to have been a room parent every year since 2008 in either one of my kids classrooms. I love this... you get to know the kids in your kid's grade and get to know your child's teacher on a more personal level. I love working with the kids, it is so rewarding when you go to the school and the kids recognize you and are happy to see you. I also love working with the teachers in the schools, you get to know them and realize we have some very interesting and cool teachers and staff working in this district. Volunteering has always been something that I've done a lot of since my kids have been in preschool and I feel very lucky for this opportunity!
